In the month of September we kicked off the Island Walk Community Food Drive.  We collected nearly 500 pounds of food in just under two weeks.  Our friends at Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida are grateful for this outpouring of support and welcome all the help they can get.

We have been asked to continue our food collection effort as the number of families who face food-insecurity in Collier County has grown dramatically this year.

Under normal conditions about 36,000 people in the Collier County area do not have consistent access to nutritious food.  Nearly one-third of them are children.  However, this year has been especially difficult due to the covid-19 pandemic.  The number of people who experience food-insecurity has increased 60 percent in 2020.

Helping those in our community, who are in need, is a worth while cause and so we have set a goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of food each month on going.  If each household in the community will contribute one food item, we can easily hit that goal.

Thank you to the residents of Island Walk for your very kind generosity.  We would also like to thank and acknowledge the folks at Island Walk Bar & Grill who serve as our food collection point.

We have partnered with Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida to distribute the food we collect to those families in need.  Together we can do our part to fight hunger in Collier County.
